The silence was broken by the loud tearing of his suit which was followed by a sharp pain in his shoulder. Then suddenly he felt like he was suffocating. Greg dropped his rifle and fell to his knees. His hands flailed wildly at his helmet and eventually he found the emergency release. He hammered away at it and eventually it came un done and the helmet fell to one side. Greg let out a deep gasp and took in the air he could breath. He opened his eyes again and looked around him, strangely he could see. ~Its happening again. ~ Greg looked down at his shoulder and there it was, the spine that was there the last time they were on the ship. "Sirs... we need to hurry if we are to succeed." He drew a hissing breath. "We dont have much time." (Reply all, any, none Posted by Greg Dunn) (Alien Vessel - Corridor - 20/TAC/SC T`Vhor & MCO Conner Tirrel - 08:09) With the lights now out & all power readings fluctuating wildly, Lt T`Vhor imediately attempted to hail the Paladin, although it was a fruitless exercise. Their comms were down once again. T`Vhor looked to the MCO who instinctively tapped his closed communications tranceiver in an attempt to raise the Trojan. =/\=Zulu one to Zulu two, please respond=/\= The receiver crackled briefly in responce, then the garbled voice of the pilot of the Trojan began filtering through amidst the static. =/\=Sir, go ahead sir=/\= Conner looked to those assembled as they stood in silence, the marines & the security detail diligently scanning the coridoor for any sign of hostile intent. =/\=We`ve lost power here, we are in some kind of a deadzone & we can`t hail the Paladin so were going to need you to relay comms as before=/\= Static whistled & crackled through the reciever once again as the signal fluctuated slightly. =/\=Confirmed sir, routing comms now=/\= It was at this time though that one of the team, Ensign Dunn was appearing to have some kind of difficulty with his helmet & had begun to bang at the release in a rather furious attempt to get it off. Two of the security detail imediately went to his aid as he voiced his concerns over something happening again as they tried to reassure him. NRPG: Is this mutation going to continue Wes, if not better let us all know... RPG: The MCO then attempted to hail the Paladin through the relay. =/\=Away team to Paladin, please respond=/\= (Reply any on Paladin) =/\=We have run into communication difficulties, power is fluctuating across the board & one of the team is having some kind of....difficulty=/\= (Reply any on Paladin) =/\=Acknowledged, standing by=/\= Conner then turned his attention to Dunn as he knelt breathing heavilly upon the floor being attended to by other team members. (Reply Any) (Posted by Alan Reading) (Alien Vessel - Corridor - 20/TAC/SC T`Vhor - 08:10) Lt T`Vhor continued to scan the imediate surroundings with his tricorder whilst ACMO Me`levtel moved forwards to attend to Ensign Dunn where he now sat upon the floor. It seemed that something was indeed intruding into his very being. Perhaps this was another attempt to communicate. T`Vhor moved towards the stricken crewman & knelt beside him. "Ensign Dunn", said Lt T`Vhor, "If this is the creatures attempt to communicate with us again, can you ask questions of them at this time?", he added. (Reply Dunn) "Sporadic it must be then", said T`Vhor, "our brief is to make contact" he added turning to the ACMO. "Is there an imediate threat to Ensign Dunns life here Doctor?", said T`Vhor. (Reply Me`levtel) "Then we must use this chance to attempt contact, this may be our only chance to do so", said T`Vhor. (Reply Any) The ACMO then gave Ensign Dunn a shot of Masiform D to combat his lethargic reaction to the alien intrusion. (Reply Dunn, Me`levtel, Any) (Posted by Alan Reading) (Alien Vessel - Dark Corridor - Lt. Cmdr Calvin Capps - 08:10) It all started once again. Little by little the pieces started to fall. Everything soon would be a daze, and every crew member on the away team would transform into the alien being themselves. "Sirs... we need to hurry if we are to succeed." He drew a hissing breath. "We don't have much time." The First Officer looked over at Ensign Dunn, and walked over to his location. As did a few Marines and Lt. T'Vhor. NRPG: I am assuming here that our engineering team was able to fix our suits in some manner to give us light. RPG: "Ensign Dunn", said Lt T`Vhor, "If this is the creatures attempt to communicate with us again, can you ask questions of them at this time?", he added. (Reply Dunn) "Sporadic it must be then", said T`Vhor, "our brief is to make contact" he added turning to the ACMO. "Is there an immediate threat to Ensign Dunns life here Doctor?", said T`Vhor. (Reply Me`levtel) "Then we must use this chance to attempt contact, this may be our only chance to do so", said T`Vhor. Calvin heard the conversation and the suggestion by his Chief Tactical/Security officer. "I agree. We must continue at a fast pace. Ensign Dunn you need help walking." The tough Ensign rejected the help and stood up from the ground and continued his way. Calvin walked in front t of the rest of the away team besides a few security and a Marine team. He stood arm to arm with Ensign Dunn. "Mr. Dunn. We need you to be strong. We need you to try and communicate with them." (reply Greg) A few meters ahead a weird sensation started to creep on Calvins skin. He wasn't for sure if it was the darkness of the corridor or if something was about to happen. A wind noise started blowing through. Calvin could hear it. Then. A purple blob had attached to the security and Marines infront of the rest of the team. The crew members that were hit were thrown back in to the wall and now laid on the floor. Before anyone else could react Calvin and Greg were it with it as well. The sensation of pain on his chest were the purple blob had it was in great detail, but some how he mustered up enough strength. "Don...'t....Sh...oot," Calvin did his best to say. His face feel to his right and he saw Ensign Dunn on the floor next to him. "En..sign Dunn. Talk...t..o..th.em." From the pain, Calvin was knocked out. (reply ALL) (posted from Calvin) (Alien Ship - Corridor - ACEO Ensign Alura Rathyn - 8.12) Alura had been scanning with her tricorder when its display suddenly began to flash intermittantly as if trying to shut off. She stopped and turned the instrument in her hands, checking it for evidence of damage. She looked around carefully and saw no indication of power flowing through the alien ship. She remembered their first excursion into the ship and how everything seemed to quit working. She backed up a few paces and was gratified to see her tricorder come fully to life again. She popped her helmet off and scanned the corridor ahead but read nothing unusual. She moved through a litany of adjustment settings on her tricorder. "There it is!" she said finally then her fingers opened a com to Lt. Matrix. "Chief, I'm reading a peculiar fluctuation in residual anti-protons and gluons. I can't pinpoint a source but they're there." (Reply: Matrix) The return communication was staticky but Rathyn understood most of it. "I only have theories as to the cause," she told him. "Brownlee and I ..." she cut her statement off when two of the Marines ahead were suddenly thrown backward as if struck by something. Rathyn yanked her phaser from her waist and looked into the darkness for a target. The next moment, something like a large purple globule struck Commander Capps throwing him backward. "Trojan we're under attack!" she yelled into the com-line and ran toward Capps. "Don...'t....Sh...oot," she heard the commander say in a choke voice. ~Like hell, I won't shoot,~ she thought to herself covering the dozen or so paces between herself and Commander Capps. She crouched beside him looking around for an attacker. Her tricorder was of little use at that location but the away team's helmet lights were providing nominal illumination. "Let's get you away from here sir," she said trying to help him climb to his feet, then swore under her breath to find he had lost conciousness. Putting her phaser back in its place she slid an arm under his neck. "Dunn if you're going to talk to these things then talk!" Rathyn shouted, her own voice strained as she pulled Capps body weight to a sitting position. "If not, grab someone and let's get the hell out of here." She managed to raise herself up with both arms under Capps arms and began dragging him back the way she'd come. Each step was a strain and she knew her progress was dangerously slow. "Why do you men love hard mass so much," she hissed angrily to the unconcious man, following it with a sizzling Bajoran oath. "Light and lithe is so much easier." (Reply: Dunn, Matrix, any) (Posted by David) Mission: Into the Gates of Hell Day: 7 Stardate: 2407.01.10 (Alien Ship - Corridor - ACEO Lt JG. Steven Matrix - 8.12) She moved through a litany of adjustment settings on her tricorder. "There it is!" she said finally then her fingers opened a com to Lt. Matrix. "Chief, I'm reading a peculiar fluctuation in residual anti-protons and gluons. I can't pinpoint a source but they're there." Matrix was scanning from the other side of the corridor, "Its inside the wall...no, yes. It appears its inside the wall." Matrix heard the commotion, but couldn't see what was going on...he thought he heard... (Reply any, none) (Posted by Steve) (Alien Ship - Corridor - 20/TAC/SC T`Vhor - 8:12) Lt T`Vhor had swung around fast as the globular objects hit the First Officer full in the chest, his sidearm imediately drawn as he crouched down upon the floor scanning ahead for possible targets. The Marines of course had now deployed in a two by two formation, moving ahead & ducking into accessways along the coridoor as they went scanning for the source of the orb-like projections. Turning his attention rearwards though, T`Vhor watched as Rathyn could be seen struggling to get the First Officer to his feet, it seemed though that he was now out cold. "Whatever these lifeforms want it better be made clear sooner rather than later", said T`Vhor to nobody in particular. Ensign Dunn was not responding at all to whatever they had instigated & snap decisions were now the order of the moment. Lt T`Vhor then retreated slowly towards the inert form of the FO laying in Rathyns lap as she pulled him back & away from any further harm. "Rathyn", said T`Vhor anxiously, "the Lt Cmdrs status please", he asked. (Reply Rathyn) "If he doesn`t come round within five minutes, as the ranking officer I`ll be assuming command of the away team", said T`Vhor turning quickly then to the MCO who had taken up a position just to the front of where they now were. "Lt Tirrel, I`ll need two of your men to escort any incapacitated back to the shuttles", said T`Vhor. The MCO turned his attention rearwards only briefly as T`Vhor spoke nodding his affirmation as he did so, then he concentrated again on what his men were doing ahead. At this point. Lt T`Vhor moved forwards again but as he did so, another of the objects shot forth from some point ahead & hit him directly in the left shoulder. With a somewhat surprised look, T`Vhor looked down as the gelitinous mass oozed over him as though it had a life of it`s own. He turned quickly to look at the rest of the team, then he returned his attention to his shoulder, everything blurring & distorting as he did so. He could hear words coming from behind him but they seemed to be dissipating now & slurring as the thick material began probing into his neck. Then, all at once time appeared to slow to a crawl, each of the away team members moving now in slow motion until they came to a complete stop as T`Vhor looked on puzzled by what was happening. ~Is this real, or is this some kind of an illusion~ T`Vhor reached up to his temple, his hand moving in slow motion to release his visor & check the neural stabiliser. It was of course still in place, whatever this was, it was real but as he looked down to his chronometer, he noticed that the seconds were barely advancing. It was at this point though that he heard it...... A voice coming seemingly from nowhere, it spoke to him first in unintelligable alien sounds, then it began to form into words that he understood. Looking about him though, everything had now ground to a complete standstill, nothing & nobody was moving but him & a dark shape ahead of him that had semed to have come from nowhere. It was one of the creatures Dunn had described earlier!!! Lt T`Vhor instinctively raised his phaser in responce but the creature raised it`s clawed hand & all of a sudden, for some unknown reason he knew that it meant him no harm. For a brief moment, the two of them simply gazed at one another, neither of them moving as though trying to anticipate each others next moves. "What is it that you want from us?", said T`Vhor breaking the silence now. The creature moved only slightly before him as he spoke to it. "What have you done to my crewmates?", he added raising a hand towards them. "Thhheeeey haaave nooot beeeen haaarmed", said the creature in a slowed, almost ethereal whispered tone. "Weeee reeequiire yoouur aassssistaaance, weeee neeedd tooo leeeavvve heeeere", said the creature. "I don`t understand", said T`Vhor, "how can we help you, you attacked our crewmen, why?", said T`Vhor. "Nooooo, nnot attttack, try tooooo cooomuniicate", said the creature in it`s drawn out whispered responce. "Tiiime issss stopped nowww, weeee cannnn speeeak tooo youuu, youu areee diiferentttt", it added. "Release my friends", said T`Vhor looking back to his comrades now, apparently frozen in time behind him. "then we`ll speak", he added. "Notttt haarmeeed", said the creature. "Weeee, arre traaapped heere, weee neeeed youur helllp" "I still don`t understand, how can we help you when all you seem to do is hinder us", said T`Vhor. "Neeeed tooo reeestaart ouuur vessssel, neeeed tooo fuuunctioon aggain, neeed yoour asssistanceee", said the creature. "What vessel, is this not your vessel?", said T`Vhor indicating the coridoor around him. "Noottt ourrs, weee investiiigatted asss yooou diid, caannott escaaape", said the creature, "thhiiis iss whaaat yoou reequirre", it added as a beam of light suddenly projected forth from it`s hand & into T`Vhors forehead before it disappeared from view once again. Then, as suddenly as it had all begun, time began to slowly speed up again, the away team behind him moving again as though somebody had restored power to a group of automatons that had for some unknown reason ground to a halt. Lt T`Vhor looked again to his chronometer to notice the seconds were progressing once again & returning to normal pace. Sound began to come back again, the away team members looking now at T`Vhor as he now stood dumbstruck in the middle of the coridoor facing away from them. He then turned to face his crewmates apparently filled with a sudden renewed vigour. "I know what they want", said T`Vhor, "they are trapped here, they want us to help them get away from this vessel", he added as a few of the marines looked on as though he had suddenly gone mad. "Are you ok T`Vhor?", said the MCO standing now from his crouched position. "you seem a little strange", he added. "I am fine Mr Tirrel, the creature contacted me", said T`Vhor, "Didn`t any of you notice?", he added with a puzzled expression, but then on thinking back he realised that they had not, for what had just happened had taken place within a microsecond of normal time. As far as they were all concerned they had seen him hit by the orb & they had seen him imediately get up again to stand in the centre of the coridoor. T`Vhor looked to the floor on realising this, then he returned his attention to the others as they recomposed themselves. "Is Lt Cmdr Capps ok?", said T`Vhor. (Reply Rathyn) "Then I am assuming command of the away team as of now", said T`Vhor. "I want two Marines to escort the First officer & any other wounded back to the shuttles for attention", said T`Vhor indicating to the MCO as he spoke. "Done", said Tirrel as he in turn pointed to two of his men to send them off on the required task. "The rest of us will split into two groups", said T`Vhor, "one will head north along this coridoor & then head west until they reach the vessels engine room, the other team will head east for the computer core to reinstate it`s programming", he added whilst each of the assembled team looked to him as though wondering what he was now up to & how he suddenly knew where things were on this vessel. "I have it here", said T`Vhor pointing to his head, "they told me how to help them & in return they will help us", he added. "Trust me", said T`Vhor noticing their puzzled expressions, "I know what I`m doing" (Reply Any, ALL) (Posted by Alan Reading) (Alien Ship - Corridor - CSO/3O Lieutenant (jg) Joran Matthew Brownlee and Chief Officer of the Guard 1st Grok Ket Halpak - 8:14) "The rest of us will split into two groups", said T`Vhor, "one will head north along this coridoor & then head west until they reach the vessels engine room, the other team will head east for the computer core to reinstate it`s programming." Joran raised an eyebrow as T'Vhor told them what their orders were, and how he could be sure they were going to the right places. T'Vhor seemed to pick up on jis uncertainty. "I have it here", said T`Vhor pointing to his head, "they told me how to help them & in return they will help us", he added. "Trust me", said T`Vhor noticing their puzzled expressions, "I know what I`m doing" "I'll lead the group to the computer core," Joran said, "I'm already familiar with the computer systems onboard this ship." (reply T'Vhor) Joran then said to him, "I'd be more certain about where we were going if we were accompanied by one of the aliens, sir." (reply T'Vhor) "Very well." NRPG: The words in italics that follow are said in the language that the away team dicovered before. RPG: Joran flipped open his tricorder, brought up the language file, and began speaking to one of the aliens haltingly. "You," he said, pointing at one of the aliens, "I need... your help... to find... the computer core. Will you help...us?" Ket looked at the man that was pointing at him, and speaking the language of the people that had built this ship, however badly. "Very well," he said, "Assemble your team and follow me. I will show you the most direct path to the computer core we found." ~Wow,~ Joran thought, ~I wish I was able to rattle that off like he does.~ ::Give it time,:: Ket's voice said in Joran's head, ::We have found that this language is rather hard to learn.:: ::What is your name?:: Joran asked. ::My name is Ket, of the clan Halpak, or as you would say it, Ket Halpak.:: ::I am Joran, of the clan Brownlee. It is very nice to meet you, Ket.:: Joran turned to the away team. "Alright, I'm going to take a team of people down to the computer core, and Ket here will show us the way. Any questions?" (reply T'Vhor, any who want to go on team to the comp. core) (posted by Spencer) (Alien Ship - Corridor - 20/TAC/SC T`Vhor & MCO Conner Tirrel - 8:14) After T`Vhor had relayed the orders to the team, he was aware that not all of them were sure of what had just transpired, after all, what had taken two to three minutes for T`Vhor had only taken a fraction of a second of everyone elses time. All the same though, the First Officer was down, Lt T`Vhor was the ranking Officer & it was his duty now to lead them all out of this mess. Joran was the first to speak. "I'll lead the group to the computer core," he said, "I'm already familiar with the computer systems onboard this ship." "A logical choice", said T`Vhor, "I`m aware that you have first hand expreience with this ships systems", he added. "I'd be more certain about where we were going if we were accompanied by one of the aliens, sir.", said Brownlee. "If I`m correct Lieutenant, the aliens are not as able to appear & maintain corporeal form for too long at any one time", said T`Vhor pausing as though thinking back to his conversation with the entity that had confronted him. "They are dying Mr Brownlee", he added. "They are trapped on this vessel with little energy left aboard their own vessel to make good an escape", said T`Vhor. "They are also unable to carry out the neccesary proceedures due to their inability to maintain form long enough", he added. "We will need to initiate a reboot & startup of the vessels main core, this should re-instate power to all ships systems & bring the engines back online", said T`Vhor, "once we have main power, we can feed off to the aliens own vessel & initiate repairs to their warp & impulse systems", he added. "In return for our assistance, the aliens are willing to impart all data they have gathered on the vessel & provide a cure for the mutagenic anomolies we have been experiencing", said T`Vhor. "Here is the routine required to start up the core", said T`Vhor, his fingers already inputting data into the PADD he carried with him. He then handed it to Joran who scanned it for a brief moment or two. Then as suddenly as it had happened beforehand, one creature appeared before them, momentarily startling them all as a result. The marines raised their rifles in readiness but T`Vhor raised a hand to signify them not to shoot. "Stand down lads", said the MCO & the marines obeyed their CO instantly. NRPG: T`Vhor already has the information regarding locations & proceedures in his head after the first creature planted it there via the beam of light. Also, with the creatures dying, it would be better to keep it as just one alien being appearing to fit in with all of this Spencer. You`ll probably have to have him appear & disappear due to fatigue once in a while also. RPG: "Using your own knowledge of the text you found earlier, can you communicate directly with the creature Mr Brownlee?", said T`Vhor. Joran nodded & then flipped open his tricorder, brought up the language file, and began speaking to the alien haltingly. "You," he said, pointing at the creature, "I will need... your help.... Will you help...us?" The creature shifted slightly & then nodded it`s assent to Jorans question before speaking to him in a language that nobody else had even heard, let alone understood. Joran looked surprised at the way they were now conversing, as did everyone else there. He then assembled his team together & headed off promptly down the eastern coridoor, leaving the other half of the away team to head off north when ready, whilst two of the marines returned with the injured First Officer & Ensign Dunn to the shuttles. Before continuing on however, Lt T`Vhor tapped his combadge to hail the Paladin. =/\=Lt T`Vhor to USS Paladin, please respond=/\= (Reply CO) =/\=We have made contact with the creatures sir, the First Officer & Ensign Dunn are both down & returning to the shuttles. I have assumed command of the away team & we are now heading off in two groups for the engine room & the computer core in order to help the creatures=/\= (Reply CO) =/\=I will be able to let you know more later sir, it is a little hard to explain but we are making a lot of progress now=/\= (Reply CO) =/\=Understood sir, T`Vhor out=/\= Lt T`Vhor then headed off further up the coridoor with his assembled team. (Reply Any) (Posted by Alan Reading) (Alien Ship - Corridor- ACEO Ensign Alura Rathyn - 8.17) Lt T`Vhor then retreated slowly towards the inert form of the FO laying in Rathyns lap as she pulled him back & away from any further harm. "Rathyn", said T`Vhor anxiously, "the Lt Cmdrs status please", he asked. "He's unconcious," Rathyn said with a strained voice as she pulled the FO's limp form further down the corridor. "I'm moving him beyond the field of interference so I can scan this thing on his chest." "If he doesn`t come round within five minutes, as the ranking officer I`ll be assuming command of the away team", said T`Vhor turning quickly. With some effort she managed to drag Capps approximately to the point where the tricorder began blipping. A quick test showed the instrument was in good working order and she pointed it at the commander. Making a few adjustments, she found that Capps vitals remained strong, so that was one concern alleviated, at least for the moment. She then proceeded to take a closer scan on the purplish glob attached to his front. The tricorder told her that the alien projectile's had an outer shell and an interior mass, both composed of some kind of carbon-based nanofibers. The inner mass had a less dense composition and much of it had extended into Capps' body like millions of small tentacles intertwining into his DNA. Rathyn wasn't sure if the intruding fibers were a threat to their host, and she found herself wishing for a medical tricorder. A thought passed through her mind to shoot the glob with a level four phaser blast. It would likely render the thing inoperative without directly hurting the man; however, with that mass of fibers coursing through him, she had no idea what the ultimate effect would be. "Is Capps ok?", said T`Vhor's voice cut in over the comm. "About the same," Rathyn replied back "but he needs a medical officer right as soon as possible." "Then I am assuming command of the away team as of now", said T`Vhor. "I want two Marines to escort the First officer & any other wounded back to the shuttles for attention", said T`Vhor indicating to the MCO as he spoke. "Acknowledged," Rathyn said and was putting her tricorder away as one of the marines approached. (Reply: any) (Posted by David) (Alien Ship - Corridor - 20/TAC/SC T`Vhor - 8:30) Lt T`Vhor`s eyes lit up as they turned the final corner leading into the vessels vast engine room. It was gargantuan, much bigger than anything he had seen before on any ship, federation or otherwise. The Marines of course led the way into the bay, their rifles swinging about from left to right & up & down as they scanned the imediate area for possible threats. The MCO signalled all clear & the rest of the team then followed them in. T`Vhor tapped at his combadge once to open up a channel. =/\=Lt T`Vhor to Lt Brownlee=/\= (Reply Brownlee) =/\=We have reached the engine room Lieutenant, it appears to be running on minimal power, have you arrived at the computer core yet?=/\= (Reply Brownlee) =/\=Excellent, please enter the routine as indicated, point for point incremental initialisation, awaiting confirmation of each entry as you go. The main core should come online at the final initialisation routine & begin a self diagnostic, from there on in all will be self explanitory=/\= (Reply Brownlee) =/\=Confirmed, we are standing by for power up, T`Vhor out=/\= Lt T`Vhor then initiated another communication to the Alaska sitting in the hanger bay. =/\=Lt T`Vhor to Alaska, please respond=/\= (Reply any on Alaska) =/\=How are the first officer & Ensign Dunn, are they recovering?=/\= (Reply Alaska) =/\=Very well, stand by for data transmission, relay to Paladin on confirmation of receipt, T`Vhor out=/\= T`Vhor then accessed a second PADD borrowed from one of the other team members. Closing his eyes, he held his palm directly above the unit & a small blue surge of light manifested itself to enter the PADD directly. He had no idea how he had just done this, he just knew that he could do so. One of the marines just stared in disbelief, his jaw dropping slightly in responce. "You ain`t normal man", said the marine, "but as long as your on our side, I ain`t freakin complaining", he added. Lt T`Vhor raised an eyebrow in responce to the mans quip as he initiated the data communication to the Alaska, then he moved off towards what appeared to be something akin to an injection manifold leading into a warp core which was glowing with a very faint orange photonic glow. T`Vhor opened the lid on his tricorder & then scanned the compartment. ~Deuterium - anti hydrogen traces - a magnetic constricting element~ "The technology here is not unlike our own", said T`Vhor, "they appear to use matter & antimatter as we do in our own warp cores", he added, closing the tricorder & then moving further on into the engine room whilst awaiting the inevitable computer core startup. (Reply Brownlee, Alaska, Any) (Posted by Alan Reading) (Shuttle Craft Alaska - FO Lt. Cmdr Capps - 08:31) Calvin's body layed on a bench that was normally used for officers to sit on, but since the First Officer was knocked out he could not sit. A nearby Marine with a tricorder in hand had opened it up and took known medical scans from his training on the Lt. Cmdr's body. "Vital signs are in appropriate range, brain functions normal, heart rate in range. He seems like he will be ok. We need to wake him." The marine next to him took out a hypospray and placed a small canister of Tricordrazine inside of it. He handed to the Marine that was now kneeling next to Calvin. The Marine pressed it to Calvin's neck and the hypo spray inject his body with the cold fluid. After a few seconds both Marines could see the First Officers eyes blinking numerous times wildly. After a few more seconds Calvin realized he was back on the shuttle craft Alaska. He tried to bring himself up but his chest received a very painful shock of pain. He laid back down. "Report!" Calvin exclaimed. He really did not like the idea of lying down. He did not like his situation. Before the nearest Marine could answer his superior officers question a voice came over the intercom. =/\=Lt T`Vhor to Alaska, please respond=/\= Calvin heard his Second Officer over the intercom. The First Officer had to assume that Lt. T'Vhor took over the away mission. He knew how important it was for this mission to be successful. "This is the Alaska." Calvin spoke quickly before anyone else could. =/\=How are the first officer & Ensign Dunn, are they recovering?=/\= "Lt. This is the First Officer." Calvin could only imagine how his voice sounded after being just awakened. The Marine then spoke. "Sir, please rest. Lt. T'Vhor this is Petty Officer Reeves. Lt. Cmdr Capps and Ensign Dunn will have a full recover they are in pain, but will be ok sir." =/\=Very well, stand by for data transmission, relay to Paladin on confirmation of receipt, T`Vhor out=/\= ~Transmission~ Calvin thought. It is my experience that a violent display of authority is the quickest way to cut through hesitation. He then quickly noticed the pips on his collar. He was confused. "May I help you sir." "I am Lt. Commander Sarouk, the new Chief Engineer," Sarouk said, matter-of-fact. He handed Tristen the PADD with his orders confirming his statement. "Computer, recognize Sarouk Lt. Commander." The Lt. Cmdr started putting in his orders into the computer, but Zack could not believe it. He looked over the PADD reading his orders. It seemed real and legitimate. Zack was more confused than before. "Ensign, please brief me on the current status of ships systems," Sarouk asked. "First, sir. Might I say welcome aboard the Paladin. There is currently an away team on the alien vessel outside of our hull. They are there trying to accomplish peaceful contact. We have steady communication with the team, but only because of the the Trojan acting as a mode. We have not transports so I was trying to increase the power to the ship some how. "There are over 8500 officers and crew, it is like a small city in space. It will take you a good while to acquaint yourself with all of them." “Just trying to get used to the ship and her crew. Would it be alright after I have dropped my belongings into my quarters to go to sickbay to look over the medical records? I like to be familiar with things before anything really happens,” "Of course." Jared replied. "Or I can set it up where you can access the records from your quarters, at the moment the point is moot. We are currently running an investigation into a potential mutagenic disaster. We are watching to see if the away teams might have brought it back from the alien ship. You can look at those medical records any time you would like though." “How long have you been aboard the Paladin sir?” The ACMO asked. "About six months now." Jared said as he stepped off the lift and led the way to the young doctors cabin. It didn't take long. "Here you are." He said as he stopped outside the door to number 35. "Sickbay is on deck 13, I'll see you there is say half an hour?" Ryan poked his head through the door and then paused for a moment. Looking around the room Ryan looked at the sparse surroundings. With a few touches though it was most logical that it could be improved to make his life more comfortable. “Thank you,” Ryan stated looking back to the Chief and then spoke once more. “I shall see you in thirty minutes sir. Il just change my uniform and place some of my personal belongings in here. There does seem to be enough room,” Ryan stated grinning. (Reply Keller IYW) Stepping inside his quarters Ryan threw his bag onto the bed and looked around once more. Thankfully his room was quite enough and generally large enough. His bed had already been made up for him and everything as a whole was in perfect condition. Looking around he looked at his desk with his computer terminal attached, once more it was nothing but Federation standard. There was no real human touch to things it was just standard Federation and nothing more or less . Moving over to his bag he unzipped it and removed his favourite book and placed it on his bedside table. Removing his picture of his family it too was placed next to his bed to be looking over him at all times. It was a reassuring thing to have a picture of the family, for most of his life he had never been too far away from his family and this was now the furthest he had ever been away. At the moment he was not missing them too much but no doubt that might change with time. Moving off Ryan changed his uniform and checked himself in the mirror. As with most Uniforms it was a snug fit and clung well to his figure and general physique. With the imediate threat of an unknown hostile force now quashed, they were actually sitting now, their rifles laying upon the floor beside them as they chatted amongst themselves. As for the second officer, he had already scanned & logged most of the artifacts & equipment they had encountered in the room before taking up a seated position himself upon a storage vessel of some kind propped against a bulkhead. When the first signs of something having dramaticly changed first presented themselves, each of the team members stopped talking, some in mid sentence as they turned to look towards the source of the humming that was now coming from one of the pieces of equipment in the room. First it had been only an inperceptible whistle, but very soon it had risen in volume to a steady beat as the once dormant circuits sprang into life signalling an obvious engine startup.... All at once, people were on their feet as the orange glow of the core turned brighter, pulsing with a renewed force to the accompaniment of a steady & powerful sounding woooomph, wooommph sound. "Now that`s something", said one of the marines as he gazed at the core in awe. It was obvious now of course that Joran had been successful in initialising the computer core for the effects were self evident now in their current location. Lights began illuminating one by one along the once darkened coridoors as the electrical circuits, once devoid of power began channeling new energy to each termination along their route. As an honour bound Klingon, it was his duty of course to be there & once he had arrived he made instinctively for the tactical console, relieving the young Ensign who had occupied it beforehand in the process. The strangest coincidence though was when the panel almost imediately signalled a power surge upon the alien vessel upon his arrival. Kerge was on it in an instance & reported this to the Captain the moment the signal had been confirmed. "Captain, a power surge on the alien vessel", said Kerge, they are powering all systems, shall I ready weapons", he added his voice filling with the tone of a possible impending battle. (Reply CO) Kerge turned towards the viewscreen which was now showing the vessel in a markedly different light to what they had seen so far. All of it`s internal lights now blazed against the dark hull & a clear warp signature was now registering on Kerge`s tactical panel. From his previous encounters with officers on his career it had not gone that well but this officer seemed different and a lot more relaxed than most. From his limited experience and well mainly drawing from his fathers career it had seemed to get better results when people felt more at ease and relaxed. Of course there was a fine line between friendship and the chain of command but if the line was found it was one that enriched all situations. Ryan collected the pad that was slid along the desk and glanced over it quickly. Looking back up to the Chief he listened once more. "I listed the cases currently in sickbay according first along with their medical histories, that will give you a good place to start. After that you will find the medical histories of the command crew followed by the other departments." “Thank you Jarred,” Ryan paused at calling the Chief by the first name, although he had been ordered to do so it just didn’t seem right some how. Ryan made a mental note of what the Chief was saying, he would by the sounds of things have some time to find his way around and make himself comfortable in the time he had. “Il have a read of this Doctor Keller and try not to break anything whilst you are gone,” Ryan stated smiling. "Feel free to look about sickbay while I'm gone." On that the chief stood up, following his fathers advice Ryan stood up as well to maintain eyelevel with his superior. "You're in charge here in my absence." “Of course, if I need anything you will here me shout,” Ryan stated smiling, at the core he was nervous but more accurately he was a little impressed that in a short time he was already being left in charge of the sickbay. (Reply Keller IYW) Ryan followed the chief out and said his good byes, looking back to the now empty sickbay Ryan tapped his fingers on the back of the pad and turned slowly to take in the size of the sickbay. Looking at the paragraph he had been having trouble with his attention was drawn away. This time not from his own mind but from the fact that the sickbay doors had just flown open. Looking in the direction of the sickbay doors Ryan looked at the officer who was stood cradling his hand with his colleague by his side. Placing the pad on the biobed once more Ryan composed himself and walked over with a broad smile. No body liked going to see doctors so it had always been his policy to make it as painless as possible for every person. The easiest way of doing it was to make people feel more relaxed and comfortable, with that in mind a smile went a long way. “I’m Doctor Porter, So what happened here then?” Ryan enquired, the officer cradling his hand returned a smile through gritted teeth and then spoke, from the face he was obviously in pain and that was understandable. From the looks of the hand the manner in which the officer was carrying it he had obviously burnt it. “I was repairing a plasma coupling when the damn thing went up. I managed to shut it down but…” Ryan smiled and placed a reassuring hand on the mans back. Guiding him to the biobed Ryan tapped it to signify that the officer should sit down. “Not a problem, we will have you fixed and out of here in no time,” Ryan then looked to the mans friend, glancing up and down the man had no visible injuries. “Are you in need of some assistance?” Ryan enquired, the man paused for a moment and then spoke. “No Doctor, I just brought Jenkins down here,” Ryan looked back to the injured man and then smiled. “Well he will be fine, the miracles of modern medicine. He will get some time in sickbay to relax, however for you. Could you please report to your chief of department the accident and inform the Chief Il be keeping Mr Jenkins here to treat him,” On that the officer nodded and Ryan moved off to get the medical tray. Seemed the most logical point not to leave the man suffering any longer than necessary. (Reply Any) (Posted By Jim)
